Cape Mental Health
South Africa's oldest mental health organisation, founded in 1913, providing mental health services across the Western Cape.
Cape Mental Health was founded in 1913 and is the oldest mental health organisation in South Africa. It is a registered non-profit and public benefit organisation, and was a founding member of the World Federation for Mental Health in 1948.
The organisation provides comprehensive mental health services across the Western Cape, including information sessions on mental health conditions, assessment and counselling for people living with anxiety and depression, and life-skills training programmes. Much of its work is focused on poorly resourced communities.
Cape Mental Health has also hosted the Cape Town International Kite Festival, the biggest kite festival in Africa, since 1994.
